He has struck again, and struck hard. BILL CALLAHAN confirms album after album that he is one of the very best songwriters America has ever known. Like the greatest albums of the genre, Astral Weeks, After The Goldrush, The Band, Songs From A Room, John Wesley Harding..Apocalypse is an explorer’s album, a gold seeker’s album: CALLAHAN offers us a meditation on self-exploration in an apocalyptic era, with yesterday’s and today’s America as the backdrop. Musically, the whole thing is very subtle and free, with a timeless sound of great depth.
