MAGICAL MEETING BETWEEN INDIE BLUES AND MANDINGUE TRADITIONAL MUSIC! Wait For Me is an organic project born from the fruitful collaboration between Zita Swoon Group (Antwerp collective formed by the founder of dEUS, Stef Kamil Cartens) and Awa Démé & Mamadou Diabaté Kibié, both griots from Burkina Faso. Dignified representatives of the traditional West African musical storytelling art, the former is a virtuoso of the balafon (Sylophone) and the latter a radiant singer with an ethereal voice. Together, they have written twelve radiant songs whose lyrics, at times serious and mischievous, often address current issues in West African society. The permanent dialogue between Awa Démé's vocal flights (in Dioula) and Stef Kamil's raspy delivery (in English and French), the rich instrumental textures, the inventive arrangements, and the excellence of the 8 musicians make Wait For Me a warm and captivating album.
