Zimmerman surprises with new album "Love Songs". Earlier this year, Simon Casier (the man behind Zimmerman and also Balthazar's bassist) impressed everyone with 'Wish You Were Here', the chilling tribute to his deceased brother. For 'Love Songs', the goal was to make the most romantic record of the 21st century. A record filled with love songs is a delicate balancing act. It's about finding the sweet spot between syrupy sentiment and authentic beauty. "I may have crossed that line a few times. I've never been interested in what's cool. I just want to make the music I want to make when it makes emotional sense. Playing with Balthazar is great and I love nothing more than playing bass. But with Zimmerman, I can do whatever I want. That variety is refreshing." The result is an exceptional album with ten short, beautifully arranged songs that more than once remind us of Burt Bacharach's classic pop songs. Timeless, yet modern. Light, yet never without commitment.
