Maqâm roads

Description

Un prospective viewpoint, thanks to the watermark of maqâm, on fruitful issues between Here and Elsewhere, indigenous cultures and globality. Maqâm Roads (The Roads of Maqâm) is a dreamlike journey from the Maghreb to India and a tender manifesto to affirm the inalienable freedom of the artist Zied Zouari. The choice of his two accomplices to accompany him is not neutral, as specified, in this case, by the Turkish singer Abdurrahman Tarikci (also a saz and bass player) and the Armenian-born drummer-percussionist, Julien Tekeyan. For a long time, Zied Zouari has been working on a new Arabic violinistic language with a syncretic approach of various influences, from Afro-Arab and Indo-Turkish music to Western classical music, jazz, and world music. In this regard, Maqâm Roads offers a fair palette of his quest. FOR THOSE WHO LOVE Nishtiman Project, Karim Zyad, Yo Yo Ma World Fusion Project
