This new wave will feature albums by YES, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, The Moody Blues, Paco de Lucia & John McLaughlin, Duran Duran and Heart.'The Ladder' is Yes's eighteenth studio album, released on September 20, 1999.It is the first of two albums by the band with six musicians (the other being the live 'House of Yes'). It reached number 36 on the UK Albums Chart and number 99 on the Billboard 200.On this album, Billy Sherwood moved from keyboards to focus on guitar, as Russian keyboardist Igor Khoroshev officially joined the band, making him now a full member of Yes. Canadian multi-instrumentalist Randy Raine-Reusch, who has played with Aerosmith (Pump, 1989) and The Cranberries (To the Faithful Departed, 1996), also participated in the album's recording. Steve Howe plays the koto on the track "It Will Be a Good Day (The River)" during the intro, toward the middle, and at the very end of the song.
