Foals frontman unveils collaborative project with legend Tony Allen In one of the most intriguing collaborations in recent memory, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis has teamed up with the late drummer Tony Allen (known for his work with Fela Kuti) for this EP titled LagosParis London. Yannis had been a fan of Tony for years, so when a mutual friend offered him the opportunity to work with Tony in 2016, he jumped at the chance to go to Paris. The studio turned out to be exactly as one would imagine a Fela Kuti session circa 1972: African percussion instruments and analogue equipment at every turn. It is first and foremost a celebration of the man who inspired it, a communion with the past that allows one to escape into the present.
