In 1997, the Ici d'ailleurs label took off and prepared to release Yann Tiersen's *Le Phare*, his third album, which would bring him widespread recognition. To promote it, the label decided to release a small, non-commercial compilation for professionals, featuring tracks from his first three albums and three other titles not found on any of them. First, "Avant la chute," the B-side of a 45 RPM single occasionally offered with the *Rue des Cascades* album. Next, "Avant qu'ils arrivent," from the Sine Terra Firma association's compilation titled "Ici, d'ailleurs...", which gave the label its name. Finally, "La vie rêvée," created for the soundtrack of the film *La vie rêvée des anges*. With the reference IDA 000, "Avant la chute" had remained in the hands of only a few people. For the 25th anniversary of the Ici d'ailleurs label, we wanted to use this small compilation to showcase the full extent of the talent of our very first signing, Yann Tiersen, who, even today with the album *11-5-18-2-5-18* (on Mute), demonstrates his insatiable, ever-evolving creativity. We believe this is the right time to make it available to his many fans.
