Description

Sung in Arabic, Tigrinya, and French, the lyrics glide over haunting rhythms, borrowing from Gnawa, krautrock, and electro-trance. Yalla Miku, the new band made in Bongo Joe, takes us on a journey with the mystical and captivating voice of Anouar Ait Baouna. Composed of musicians from Cyril Cyril and Hyperculte, as well as Anouar, Samuel, and Ali, who are either immigrants or hail from distant lands, the group achieves a surprising overall cohesion. It's hard to believe the band is new given the fluid exchanges between the musicians. The band's musicians ingeniously alternate between traditional Gnawa music, captivating chants and choruses, and touches of more rock-oriented bass or electric guitars. The genre blend hits the mark, creating a wild symbiosis between vocals and percussion. A true invitation to travel, the band transports us to a universe we're already eager to explore further.
