Wombo's strange world is a kaleidoscopic journey of sharp turns and surprising visions, a melting pot of influences with a cheeky Cheshire cat grin that blends into a trippy yet infinite universe unique to the band, and a portal to their limitless unique perspective. Already determined to live outside the traditional country sound of their hometown music scene in Louisville, Sydney Chadwick (vocals) and Cameron Lowe (guitar) had previously played in the pop punk band The Debauchees, and with the addition of Joel Taylor (drums) in 2016, they found a winning combination of more straightforward indie rock combined with Chadwick's music. Wobbling vocals and unpredictable melody shifts allow the band to move at an impressive pace. Their 2020 LP Blossomslookdownuponus is a snapshot of Wombo's varied aspirations that traverse interludes of pre-pop, post-punk, and indie locked with a limitless approach to translating the mundanity of ordinary life into their own high-frequency language.
