"It's been a long journey," admits mastermind Jari Mäenpää, who has been working on his vast "Time" project since early 2004. "I was 15 years old when I started making a lot of different songs, and it just continued. Of course, I joined Ensiferum, but alongside that, I was always making my own music. After I left Ensiferum, I produced the first 'Wintersun' album, which was first and foremost a kind of exploration. The stars, the universe, and winter atmospheres are the main themes. Musically, there are no limits. After that album, I wanted to explore more different styles with the 'Time' album, which expanded with more melodies from different countries. Lyrics about life and human relationships, centered on life and death. This has always been a major theme in 'Wintersun': what is called 'life' and this experience we all go through?
