Molly Hamilton and Robert Earl Thomas form the duo Widowspeak. After a self-titled debut album blending Molly Hamilton's haunted vocals with Robert Earl Thomas's Morricone-esque guitars, they explore new territories with Almanac, featuring denser arrangements, from Saharan rhythms to Apache melodies. The album was recorded in late summer by Kevin McMahon (Swans, Real Estate) in an old farmhouse in the Hudson River Valley. With McMahon's work, the band's demos gain more density, beneath layers of guitar, organ, Rhodes piano, and harmonium.
