Kompakt celebrates the return of the Copenhagen band, WhoMadeWho, with their latest album Synchronicity. This project, Synchronicity, is a way for the band to challenge themselves to create music that is beautiful, inspiring, and entertaining. Synchronicity refers to the simultaneous occurrence of at least two events that have no causal connection, but whose association makes sense to the person perceiving them. This describes very well the path taken by WhoMadeWho somewhere between nightclubs and independent stages, leading the trio to where they are today. WhoMadeWho returns to Kompakt for the first time since Brighter in 2012. This restored connection helps us understand the synchronicity at play, how WhoMadeWho has built an album around collaboration with friends and peers, just as Kompakt advocates for interconnections, sharing, and family. On Synchronicity, WhoMadeWho calls upon both old and new friends: Michael Mayer, Echonomist, Adana Twins, Alex Boman, Robag Wruhme, Frank Wiedemann, Sainte Vie, Mano Le Tough, Marc Piñol, Rebolledo, and Perel. The band steers the ship, navigating towards dance-pop universes. There is something particularly generous that emanates from this inclusive and welcoming album, at the heart of all the social and cultural changes we are currently experiencing. The album reveals a plethora of pleasures: from pop revelations to dance floor madness, including slow-burners. Synchronicity is exactly that; a place where the joys of the unexpected collide and find meaning through their fortuitous coexistence in the beautiful world of WhoMadeWho.
