Description
For Translucence is the debut album from composers and musicians Whitney Johnson (Matchess) and Lia Kohl. Their dialogue, initially founded in free improvisation on viola and cello, has over time morphed into (for now) a neophonic orchestral expression. A living meditation where layers of acoustic strings, synthesizers, field recordings, radio, and sine waves illuminate and modify each other while twisting and expanding. The resulting sound is not exactly electro-acoustic, but rather electronic and acoustic, each layer transforming the next.
