Following her self-produced album The Outside Room in 2011, Natalie Mering, aka Weyes Blood, released The Innocents in 2014, a melancholic album of raw emotional beauty. The album is rooted in American and British folk music, stretching it to its limits by juxtaposing traditional instruments (piano, guitar, drums) with collages, tapes, delay effects, and electronic elements. This haunted music evokes the 1961 film of the same name.
