Forever Ends Someday

Description

Authentic, complete and personal, the long-awaited debut album from Wesley Joseph reveals a singer, songwriter, producer and director of unapologetic vulnerability, expressing the many facets of his creative journey. The result: Forever Ends Someday, thirteen introspective tracks tinged with escapism. On "Peace of Mind", featuring Danny Brown, Joseph expresses his anxieties with strength and assurance in a powerful anthem with punchy basslines. "July" in collaboration with Jorja Smith, was recorded in their hometown of Walsall, and forms a joyful reminiscence of their past, where they evoke the path traveled and the trials overcome. The fruit of three years of work, this album allowed Joseph to step away from the spotlight to refocus on his story, prioritizing the authenticity of his art rather than capitalizing on the momentum his career has enjoyed (including a sold-out show at London's KOKO and a completely sold-out North American tour). "I considered this album as a receptacle, constantly pouring elements of my life into it," he confides. The album's title track, "Forever Ends Someday", evokes the ephemeral beauty of the present moment - "the idea that, when young, everything seems to last forever, but that as you grow up, you realize youth is borrowed," explains Joseph. The album's tracks offer a sincere reflection of the human experience, between light and shadow. Recorded between London, Walsall, Los Angeles and Switzerland, the album was produced with the help of a team of collaborators and co-producers who allowed Joseph to realize his vision during these three years of writing. He worked closely with composer Nicholas Jaar (The Weeknd, FKA Twigs), who brought his sensibility to several tracks, producer Harvey Dweller (Loyle Carner, Joy Crookes), Mercury Prize nominee Tev'n (Rina Sawayama, SBTRKT), A. K. Paul (Nao, Fabiana Palladino), Al Shux (JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar, SZA), Ryan Raines (Paul McCartney, Dominic Fike) and Romil Hemnani (Brockhampton). From Walsall to the world, Forever Ends Someday demonstrates that Joseph's legacy is only just beginning.
