He chose French for the elegant poetry of his new album De la Glace dans la Gazelle. Here, each syllable is chosen at the same time for its meaning and its musicality. And each word is magnified by his deep, sensual, and inhabited voice; and his guitar, at times clear or hypnotic. Wasis Diop's last album Séquences (2014) collected some of his compositions for cinema but he had not offered us any new songs since the release of Judu Bek in 2008. The release is accompanied by a magnificent clip Voyage à Paris, directed by his daughter Mati Diop.
