Vona Vella (Izzy Davis and Dan Cunningham), Leicestershire's answer to Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, are releasing their self-titled debut album on Strap Original. Vona Vella was recorded at The Libertines' studio, Albion Rooms in Margate, and produced by Jason Stafford (Jamie T, Sports Team, The Libertines) and Vona Vella. The album will be available on CD and black, orange, and blue vinyl. The blue vinyl also features an exclusive "Night Time Cover." The album's twelve tracks were co-written by the duo: Dan on guitar and piano, Izzy on guitar and flute... and Jake Bott on drums. After touring last year as support for The Libertines, Tim Burgess, and Morcheeba, and last month for Peter Doherty, Vona Vella performed at The Great Escape in Brighton, played a headline show in London, performed at the Dot2Dot Festival in May, and supported Reverend & The Makers in Bristol on June 11th at Dareshack. Further headline shows and festival appearances will be announced soon. Vona Vella consists of 21-year-old singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Izzy Davis and Dan Cunningham. The band officially formed in autumn 2020 after Ross Godfrey from Morcheeba heard their (then unreleased) single "Sun" and decided to remix it. Once released, it became an instant viral hit, accumulating over a million streams. Vona Vella released their debut EP, "Go Outside Forever," in early 2022, which received a glowing review from Paul Heaton. In January of this year, a remix of the EP's title track, "Go Outside Forever," was used in the hugely successful video game NBA2K23.
