Volturian is a modern metal band founded by singer Federica Lanna (Sleeping Romance) and songwriter Federico Mondelli (Frozen Crown, Be The Wolf), based on the contrast between sweet, dreamy female vocals and downtuned heavy guitars, with a massive infusion of electronic music. Lanna’s pure and ethereal vocals flow effortlessly between slow-paced groovy songs and rigid industrial-inspired anthems, backed by Mondelli’s Swedish death metal-oriented guitar riffs (early In Flames and Soilwork) and powerful, precise drumming. The keyboards add a fundamental layer to Volturian’s music, ranging from New Wave to 90s Europop to obscure gothic atmospheres. The album concept is based on dark, obscure and romantic themes, imbuing the band’s lyrical imagery with gloomy Victorian vibes. This is melodic modern metal with a touch of gothic chic!
