Description

Volker Goetze is known for his collaboration with Senegalese Kora virtuoso Ablaye Cissoko, with their album "Amanke Dionti". Volker Goetze primarily aims to create a more concrete, broader fusion between the traditions of West Africa and those of jazz. Building bridges is the very essence of music, from us to others, from the inside out, from a sound universe to the world we live in. But that is just one of the reasons why Volker Goetze, internationally renowned trumpeter and composer born in Germany and residing in New York for fifteen years, named his new album "Bridges". With Richie Barshay, longtime drummer for Herbie Hancock, clarinetist Oran Etkin, and Estonian pianist Kristjan Randalu, known for his work with Dhafer Youssef, Volker Goetze expands the playground of creative improvisation and finds musical bridges, often thousands of kilometers apart. These new compositions, all written by Volker Goetze, find their roots in West African jazz and contemporary jazz from New York to create a unique intercultural musical experience.
