Scattered between Paris, Tours, and Le Blanc, in central France, Paul, Thibault, Simon, and Paul formed Volage in the summer of 2011. The group periodically secluded themselves in a garage in Le Blanc, meticulously crafting a sound identity made of fuzz guitars, echo, vocal harmonies, and finely chiseled melodies. Far from the typical garage cliché, Volage chose to reconcile the immediacy and energy of the style with the finesse and lightness of pop. The band released their first self-produced cassette, "Maddie," in spring 2012, re-released by Howlin' Banana on vinyl in November 2013, which received excellent reviews in the specialized press. This sold-out EP, after several tours and a handful of prestigious opening acts (The Growlers, Fuzz), Volage is now preparing to release its first album. In preparation for nearly a year, "Heart Healing" was produced entirely independently and again conceived in the intimacy of their garage in Le Blanc. This debut album marks the quartet's evolution towards a more produced sound and more ambitious compositions, at times leaning towards pop, at times towards heavier sounds inherited from the 70s. Richer, more melancholic, and more personal than "Maddie," "Heart Healing" crystallizes the band's evolution and serves as its ideal introduction.
