Víkingur Ólafsson, the Icelandic virtuoso pianist and most acclaimed classical artist of our time, presents his new project 'Mozart & Contemporaries', which delves into the darker side of Mozart and his contemporaries.
Two of them, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788) and Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), were closely linked to Mozart, both musically and spiritually. The other two, Baldassare Galuppi (1706-1785) and Domenico Cimarosa (1749-1801), were more distant, with no significant direct ties to Mozart, but belonged to the same 18th-century musical landscape. As is his custom, Víkingur Ólafsson reinterprets and elevates these great works with his characteristic talent, freedom, and enthusiasm.
