Here is one of Oslo's next great bands. 'Open The Door' is an introduction to the '90s-influenced pop-rock sound of the all-female band Veps. Hailing from the east of the Norwegian capital, the members of Veps have known each other since primary school and started playing music together in middle school, at age 14. Although they grew up with very different influences, the girls had a certain shared sense of not belonging, and while working together on a short film, they decided to form a band on a whim. Helena, Laura, and June already knew how to play an instrument, so Maja was assigned the role of drummer even though she had never touched a drum kit before, and Veps was born. Already making waves by playing a series of DIY gigs wherever they could, the band self-produced the singles "Do I Hear A Maybe?" and "Funny Things." Thanks to this superb debut EP, which showcases songwriting far more mature than their age, Veps signed with New York label Kanine Records, firmly establishing themselves as one of the most interesting bands to follow.
