The Parisian collective VALPARAISO is releasing its first album, bringing together the voices and poetry of Phoebe Killdeer (Nouvelle Vague), Dominique A., Rosemary Standley (Moriarty), Julia Lanoë (Mansfield Tya), Shannon Wright, Huwe Gelb (Giant Sand), Josh Haden (Spain), and Marc Huyghens (Venus). The album is recorded, mixed, and produced by John Parish. Hervé and Thierry Mazurel, musicians and co-founders of the group Jack The Ripper, are behind VALPARAISO. The lineup also includes guitarist Matthieu Texier (Les Hurleurs, Théu Hakula), drummer Thumas Belhum (Amor Belhom Duo), and violinist Adrien Rodrigue (Jack the Ripper). The musical collective symbolizes a kind of haven that welcomes artists, gathering them for a song, seeing them leave, and why not return again, in an incessant back-and-forth. It is with this spirit of travel and this "borderless" philosophy that VALPARAISO and their guests distinguish themselves.
