A stunning live version of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique responds to the mystical work of contemporary Mark Anthony Turnage, Shadow Walker. Recorded live at the Musikverein in Vienna, the program presented here is a unique coupling on disc between two great composers, Hector Berlioz and a contemporary born in 1960, Mark Anthony Turnage. It is also a unique meeting between two remarkable violinists, the Russian Vadim Repin and the South African Daniel Hope, who perform together the Concerto for Two Violins by Turnage, titled Shadow Walker: as a jazz enthusiast, Turnage offers the soloists freedom and combined collective play. The evening concludes with a passionate version of the Symphonie Fantastique, a perfect artistic success of the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic under the direction of Austrian conductor Sascha Goetzel.
