Piano Sonatas - Variations - Rondo - Waltz

Description

The Irish composer John Field (1872-1837) is still celebrated today as the father of the nocturne, for having created a genre that inspired Chopin and generations of Romantic piano composers. Field's talents for the piano were recognized very early, from the age of nine, and cultivated by Muzio Clementi, an Italian-born composer and publisher based in London, who took him on as a student. Thus, although Field's first three sonatas date from 1801, when he was still a teenager, they are the fruit of a decade of dedication to musical art and technique.
