After sharing musical influences and ideas, the two students formed Triptides, a psychedelic beach pop band. Originally released in 2013 (Stroll On Records), Predictions is the band's third album, and their first recorded in a studio. The band's sound has evolved since their very lo-fi and surf beginnings, when they recorded everything on a Tascam 8-track cassette in their basement. They have progressively added other strings to their bow. On Predictions, Triptides sings of their heartbreaks, and while the ghost of The Byrds, which will follow them throughout their career, is never far, they also explore other paths, from jangly indie pop to power-pop evocations. The album is another step towards the West Coast, where the band would later settle to become one of Los Angeles' most important contemporary psychedelic bands. As part of the reissue series of Triptides' catalog, Predictions has been carefully remixed and remastered, with new artwork. Out of print for many years, it is now available in a beautiful limited deluxe edition on 180g green vinyl.
