Haydn's trios by the Trio Gaspard, a new success!The Trio Gaspard continues its series of Haydn's piano trios with a selection of later works, conceived as an autonomous program. Once again, the trio includes the world premiere recording of a commissioned piece to complement Haydn's works, here the trio by Sally Beamish. The disc opens with Trio No. 26 in C minor, dating from 1789, followed by Trios No. 34 in E-flat major and No. 36 in E-flat major, written during Haydn's stay in London in the 1790s. Trio No. 31 in G major concludes the cycle. Finally, Sally Beamish offers her trio with a melancholic mood, in F-sharp minor, influenced by Haydn's approach, while combining it with personal memories of her mother. The title, Trance, indicates a meditative state, but also a passage, a disorienting journey.
