Funeral Music

Description

The group Ton et Hunter Jayne announces the release of their new album Funeral Music, scheduled for May 16 on Lex Records, and unveils the first single/video, "RIP". Funeral Music, their fifth album, took shape when the group imagined what they would like to hear at their own funerals. A recurring reference throughout the writing and recording process with the idea of "play this at my funeral", the album becomes the realization of this concept. The single "RIP" is a rock song influenced by the 90s, inspired by bands like Pixies, Deftones and Nirvana. Adam Intrator explains: "The goal of 'RIP' was to revive the feeling of hearing a 90s rock song for the first time, in your parents' car, in the back seat, asking to turn it up louder. 'RIP' has a double meaning: it speaks both of death and rebirth."Born from a period of grief, personal growth and self-discovery, Funeral Music presents a darker and more vulnerable side of the group. The album takes a more minimalist approach, highlighting each element, from sparser guitars, live-recorded drums, vocals captured in a single take, and experimental pianos. This album not only reflects a sonic shift but also reinvents the dynamic between their sound, their energy, and their way of working. Written, recorded and mixed in various locations over two years, Funeral Music is the group's strongest and most cohesive work to date.
