By the age of 12, Toni Harper, born in 1937, had already recorded a platinum record, played Carnegie Hall, shared the stage with Cab Calloway, and appeared on television with Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Milton Berle, and Ed Sullivan. She had the opportunity to sing more "mature" songs on the present album, Toni, backed by Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, Ray Brown, and Alvin Stoller. She left the business in 1966, when she was only 29 years old.
