Le Village (LP)

Description

Get ready to groove to reggae made in Marseille! ORP is coming to uplift spirits and get you dancing with an explosive mix of fiery beats and legendary flows. Imagine a dash of Oai Star, a shot of Massilia, an explosive dose of Toko Blaze, a cloud of Raspigaous, all topped with fresh riddims served up by the master of Dub Mix: Rastyron. ORP was born by chance, a chance of encounters, shared desires, and vibrations. A chance that brought together Gari, Rastyron, Toko, and Léo. All activists for so many years of this grassroots reggae, free and uninhibited, Provençal-style Jamaican, unifying and, above all, resistant. After an eponymous first track "Oai Reggae Party" launched last spring, followed by about thirty concerts, here is ORP's first album. An album where music clearly acts as a vital and healing force with an almost ritualistic dimension: elevation, resistance, and unity. Here, comfort is offered, souls are healed, and tensions are released with a collective spirit that acts as a polyphony where the styles of the three MCs converse beautifully. ORP has the particularity of being a true band in the studio with musicians and a sound system in concert with three MCs and a live dub-mix performed by Rastyron. The production evokes the sweet scent of 70s Jamaican reggae, a symbol of resistance and the search for harmony, sometimes with forays into rock steady/ska rhythms that will get all generations dancing. Recorded and mixed in his lair at Studio K, Rastyron infuses his science of riddim and perfect arrangement; he is the sound chemist of ORP. A sunny, colorful, and inclusive album focused on diversity and positive resistance, in which ORP celebrates what unites rather than what divides.
