LE RENOUVEAU DE THUNDERSTONE : NOUVEAU LINE-UP & NOUVEAU SON !This fifth studio album marks an important milestone in the career of the Finnish band. 3 years after "Evolution 4.0", "Dirt Metal" is synonymous with several major changes. A new record label Sony Finland (which has just signed a European deal with the German label SPV), a new keyboardist (Jukka Karinen), a new singer (the Swede Rick Altzi) and, finally, a new style... for this last point we should rather speak of an evolution of style, since Thunderstone had the intelligence to abandon its basic melodic power metal, heavily (too?) influenced by Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica, in favor of a heavier, darker, and, above all, much more personal metal. It must be said that in 10 years, Nino Laurenne, the guitarist/leader of the band, has also become an "important" producer in the Finnish scene and that his various experiences as such have certainly led him to reflect on the artistic future of his own band. In short, the result is brilliant and with this "Dirt Metal", Thunderstone has perfectly managed to negotiate this sometimes delicate transition for some bands. The arrival of singer Rick Altzi is undoubtedly not foreign to this success. Indeed, from one song to another, this new frontman demonstrates a truly astonishing vocal diversity; just listen to songs like "Star" or "Ghosts of Youth" to realize it... his performance from start to finish of this record is simply impressive... Following his memorable concert at the Zenith in Paris with Stratovarius & Symphony X and his tour with Manigance, Thunderstone has always maintained a special relationship with France and it is highly likely that this evolution of style will only strengthen its status in the Hexagon.
