After "Dust," guitarist and composer Thomas Naïm presents his new album, "Desert Highway"
Composed of ten original tracks and a cover of John Coltrane, "Desert Highway" stands out for its sound density and energy, echoing the power trios of the 60s.
The music of this album, with a jazz and dreamlike spirit, is rooted in the blues and draws from psychedelic rock.
Recorded in a trio with Raphaël Chassin (Hugh Coltman, Eric LeLann...) on drums and Marcello Giuliani (Erik Truffaz, Sophie Hunger...) on double bass, already present in "Dust," this album leaves ample room for collective improvisation.
"Through this warm and vintage-sounding album, I wanted to give a central place to the guitar, while establishing a constant dialogue with the drums and double bass," Thomas specifies. The three musicians have managed to create a sound with a very strong visual dimension, suggesting atmospheres close to the musical ambiance of Ry Cooder or the soundtracks of David Lynch's films. "For Desert Highway, I wanted to incorporate voices but in a sporadic way, just as a sprinkle, to bring another color to the record; this was reflected in a Tuareg blues track accompanied by a 'spoken word' in Arabic," indicates Thomas Naïm.

Guitarist, composer, and producer, Thomas Naïm started playing guitar at the age of 12. Initially influenced by Rock, he later became interested in many musical currents: funk, Brazilian music, reggae, and electronic music, before finally developing a passion for Jazz.
