Symphonie n°1 "Titan" (Hamburg version 1893)

Description

It is always exciting to hear this first symphony by Mahler "Titan", performed by a great orchestra, renowned for its rigor and expressive commitment. This is the case with the NDR Orchestra (Radio), less known than several other famous German ensembles but nonetheless held in very high regard by all critics in Europe. Thomas Englebrock, who conducts here, has been nothing less than the assistant to Antal Dorati and the composer-conductor Witold Lutoslawski; he enjoys a very good reputation and is praised everywhere for his commitment to contemporary music as well as to baroque and romantic repertoire. He made a resounding debut at Bayreuth in 2011 in Wagner's Tannhäuser. He performs everywhere with great success, in Germany of course, but also throughout Europe (including at the head of the Orchestre de Paris), and in Japan.
