Los Lagos is the seventh solo album by Swiss composer and producer Thomas Fehlmann (Palais Schaumburg, 3MB, Ocean Club, The Orb), based in Berlin, and his fourth for Kompakt, the first since Gute Luft in 2010. Los Lagos is an album that freely connects disparate extremes: disco, minimalism, art, jazz, and funk. Its head functions like a sampler, capturing elements and assembling them under its own perspective. It fearlessly jumps from deep and hypnotic tracks ("Window," "Morrislouis," "Freiluft") to a playful 90s schaffel ("Tempelhof" feat. Max Loderbauer), from an energetic dancefloor track ("Triggerism") to the calm of an ambient piece ("Geworden"). He decided to hit the pause button on mastery and control to follow his instinct. It’s not a simple process of searching and destroying to find new beauty and expand his musical vocabulary. The cover was created by contemporary artist Albert Oehlen, with whom he shares a certain artistic vision.
