{"product_id":"thomas-dollbaum_birds-of-paradise_2026_mdl_1","title":"Birds Of Paradise","description":"The most authentic storyteller on today’s indie-rock scene is undoubtedly Thomas Dollbaum, a singer-songwriter from Tampa now based in New Orleans. Birds of Paradise is his most powerful and dynamic work to date. Following his critically acclaimed EPs, Wellswood (Big Legal Mess, 2022) and Drive All Night (Dear Life Records, 2025), Birds of Paradise is a farewell letter to lost loved ones and to his former selves. In these songs, Dollbaum seeks acceptance in those fleeting places: the pine forests of Florida, the country roads leading to I-95, where birds hover over the water. And while the influence of his alt-country predecessors, Townes and Molina, is undeniable, on Birds of Paradise, Dollbaum breaks free from their shadow, saluting the past and rediscovering his true identity. This album was long awaited. Dollbaum’s previous two albums took an eternity to record due to circumstances beyond his control, which frustrated him. After eight years away from home, the place he had left was no longer the same, and the constancy of the natural world felt like a constant he wanted to explore in his lyrics. With a sense of urgency, he wrote Birds of Paradise in three months. He reached out to the musicians he trusted and admired most (Nick Corson, Josh Halper, and Jake Lenderman) and asked them to join him at Dial Back Sound studio in Water Valley, Mississippi, with producer and sound engineer Clay Jones. They learned the songs and recorded the album in four days, capturing a magical moment, a sonic revelation Dollbaum had been waiting for all along. Thanks to Lenderman, Halper, Corson, and Jones, Birds of Paradise marks the decisive, hard-won turning point in Dollbaum’s career. Alive and vibrant like the poems and short stories that haunt you: coyotes howl, birds migrate south, children chase rabbits through sugarcane fields, and a pack of cigarettes costs four dollars. Birds of Paradise reminds us where we come from (those parts of ourselves we have forgotten) — we just needed Dollbaum to reveal them to us. This is how to look back without fear or shame. This is authenticity.","brand":"Thomas Dollbaum","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57040417227096,"sku":null,"price":20260522.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0617308010398.jpg?v=1775682501","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/thomas-dollbaum_birds-of-paradise_2026_mdl_1","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
