Golden age Of Wireless

Description

Golden Age of Wireless is the debut album by English musician Thomas Dolby. Originally released in May 1982, it features an almost random, barely audible sonic layer that serves as a constant (and unsettling) subtext, sometimes seeping into a song. This underground soundscape is an integral part of Dolby's mechanical magic. Rolling Stone magazine awarded The Golden Age of Wireless four out of five stars, calling it "one of the most impressive debut albums" of 1982. Comparing the album's melody to that of Paul McCartney, the magazine concluded that "unlike many English synthesizer bands, Dolby avoids morbid, drowsy drones." Musician magazine called the album "the best record to come out of Europe's current fascination with synth-pop. Period." It added: "Dolby is simply amazing. And above all, he writes songs."
