MOONSHINE FREEZE

Description

This Is The Kit is the musical project of Kate Stables (vocals, banjo, guitar, bass, violin, percussion), originally from Bristol, but a Parisian for the past ten years, accompanied by her usual collaborator Jesse D. Vernon. The band released their first album, Krulle Bol, on the French label Microbe in 2008, produced by John Parish, who also produced this new album. A second album followed in 2011, with collaborations from several artists including François & The Atlas Mountains and Jim Barr, Portishead's bassist. Finally, Bashed Out, released in 2015 and produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, helped them gain significant recognition, with the album being considered one of the best British albums of that year. For this new album, Kate Stables and her band (Rozi Plain, Jamie Whitby-Coles, Neil Smith and Jesse D Vernon) returned to the studio in Bristol, accompanied by John Parish. Aaron Dessner's guitar playing is also featured on six tracks of Moonshine Freeze. This classy fourth album (the first on the Rough Trade label) opens with the sublime Bullet Proof, which, from the very first notes, carries the listener on a fantastic sonic journey tinged with warm and comforting folk. This Is The Kit's strength remains, as always, Kate Stables' voice, close to her music, pure and profound.
