Vinyl reissue: 30 Seconds to Mars is the band founded by Jared Leto (the actor who has also appeared in "Requiem for a Dream," "Lord of War," "Panic Room," and the series "Angela 15"). To date, "A Beautiful Lie" has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide, notably thanks to an extremely strong single, "The Kill," and the music video for this single, a short film inspired by "The Shining" and directed by Jared Leto himself. On November 1st, 30 Seconds to Mars won the award for Best Rock Artist at the MTV European Music Awards held this year in Munich (the other nominees in this category were Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, and My Chemical Romance). This victory, along with the announcement of the Gold status of "A Beautiful Lie" in England, marks the highlight of a year that has proven particularly beneficial for the band. The album is certified Platinum in the USA and Gold in Canada and Australia. More recently, 30 Seconds to Mars announced their new UK tour, the largest to date, with all dates selling out in record time. The tour will begin on January 24, 2008, in Newcastle and will pass through the Zenith in Paris on February 8. The single "The Kill," which was the original catalyst for the band's phenomenal success in both the USA and England, was awarded the Best Single award by the famous magazine Kerrang. "The Kill" was ranked for 52 weeks on the charts (Billboard Modern Rock), even reaching the 3rd position and setting the record for the longest chart duration in Top history!!
