The hits 'Jailbreak', 'Boys are Back In Town', 'Dancing In The Moonlight', and 'Whiskey In The Jar' still echo as fond memories of a band whose DNA will forever be authenticity and power. Discover the first albums of this iconic Irish Rock band, THIN LIZZY, through these three reissues.
After touring pubs and other concert venues around Dublin, Phil Lynott and his bandmates were noticed by the DECCA label in 1970. The Belfast Irishmen released their first album in 1971 and began a career marked by success, painful separations, and tragedies.
Thin Lizzy (1971): The band's first opus. It showcases Eric Bell's virtuosity on guitar and Phil Lynott's prodigious ability to make his bass sing and deliver vocals with the impressive ease of a Staxian R&B singer. Blending Blues, Rock, and Pop, Thin Lizzy quickly established the band's signature style in a musical landscape that, at the time, was seeking new inspiration through the nascent stages of emerging Hard Rock.
Shades Of A Blue Orphanage (1972): Features the band's first two real hits: the very Irish 'Whiskey In The Jar' and the very rock 'Black Boys On The Corner'.
Vagabonds Of The Western World (1973): The momentum was building, and skeptics became increasingly rare as Phil Lynott and his bandmates imposed their vision of a Rock that united fans of Blues, Groovy Pop, and Hard Rock alike.
