The ensemble Les Accents and six exceptional soloists take on Serpentes ignei in deserto (The Fiery Serpents in the Desert), a virtuosic and flamboyant biblical oratorio composed by Johann Adolf Hasse. Thibault Noally, conductor and violinist, recalls that "Hasse was undoubtedly one of the most famous composers of his time — as renowned as Handel, and even more so in some countries." The role of Moses is performed by countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, surrounded by soprano Julia Lezhneva as the Angel, sopranist Bruno de Sa, and three other renowned countertenors: Jakub Józef Orlinski, Carlo Vistoli, and David Hansen.
