PLAY: two masters of jazz, one hour of total improvisation, a concentrated dose of freedom. PLAY brings together for the first time two major figures of contemporary American jazz: trumpeter Theo Croker and pianist Sullivan Fortner. Friends for over 20 years, they release their first co-lead album here. After abandoning an initial session deemed too academic, they returned to the studio with no pre-established plan: total creative freedom, between spontaneous improvisations and inspired musical dialogues. Recorded in just one hour, PLAY reflects the essence of their journey, blending all the influences of African-American music, beyond genres.
