THE WORLD is a French Pop/New Wave trio formed in Rouen in 2013 by Nicolas Cueille (guitar, vocals), Jean-François Riffaud (synthesizer, vocals), and André Pasquet (drums). Their style is characterized by a nostalgia for the Trump years and the cult of success. Their music is difficult to describe: Neo-Romantic for some tracks, others lean more towards Hard FM. The songs follow classic forms, and the band's sound leaves a clear and anachronistic mark. Their lyrics primarily concern the business world, displaying a pragmatic determinism that earns them the labels of neoconservative and subversive alike. They also advocate for unrestricted predatory sexuality and recreational drug use, but within the bounds of rigor and professionalism.
