Throughout the album, David Tattersall (guitar and vocals), Franic Rozycki (bass), and Jonny Helm (drums) capture the joy of playing together, an alchemy that has solidified their status as one of Britain's most enduring cult bands.\n\nTattersall’s lyrics arrive like postcards from a space where memories fragment and dreams fill the cracks, reflecting the child self, the aged self, and the observing self from a neighbor’s window. The words float above the guitars and drums like silhouettes in a Chagall painting sky. The Wave Pictures always give everyday life the magic it deserves.\n\nThe cover art, created by Tattersall, pays homage to Robert Frank’s work for Exile On Main Street. Images from childhood mingle with recent photos of the band and many other characters, from old horror movie posters to former footballers. Everything that makes up their world is reflected in The Wave Pictures' music.\n\nThe album opens with \"Alice,\" a dreamlike track inspired by Burroughs. \"Sure and Steady\" recalls Lou Reed if he had grown up in the East Midlands. \"Past The House Painted Blue\" is like a Matisse painting. \"You're My Patient Now\" is a mix of Raymond Chandler and Link Wray. The songs themselves, full of poetry and joy, are the album's signature strength.\n\nLike its predecessor, Gained Lost was recorded by Jim Riley at Ranscombe Studios in Rochester over seven days in early 2024. Riley, who has worked with the band on several projects including Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon and Bamboo Diner in the Rain, captures The Wave Pictures live and unfiltered, just as they prefer to record. Throughout the album, David Tattersall’s guitar playing is inventive, melodic, emotional, and virtuosic. His playing is sometimes as lyrical as Jerry Garcia, sometimes as sharp and refined as Tom Verlaine, but always moving and perfectly suited to the song. No wonder Marc Riley describes David Tattersall as \"the greatest guitar","brand":"The Wave Pictures","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":56393750839640,"sku":null,"price":20260227.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700187691929.jpg?v=1769712961","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/the-wave-pictures_gainedlost-lp-couleur-rose-neon_2026_bel","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
