The Used are back with their new album *Toxic Positivity*. Marking the band's ninth studio album, Bert McCraken says the songs are some of the most honest he's ever written, adding that the album is difficult to listen to because it's a reflection of some of the worst times in his life. At the time of recording the first half of the album, McCraken was struggling with addiction and depression. As he always has, he turned to music, channeling his pain to create beautiful and deeply relatable lyrics. This, of course, explains the darker, less optimistic view of the world at the beginning of the album.
