The Tel Aviv session

Description

THE TOURE-RAICHEL COLLECTIVE, a collaboration between two major artists of World Music, the Malian VIEUX FARKA TOURE and the Israeli IDAN RAICHEL. The growing friendship between the two artists led them to perform together at the Tel Aviv opera in November 2010. Following this memorable concert, VIEUX and IDAN, joined by Israeli bassist YOSSI FINE and Malian calabash player SOULEYMANE KANE, spent a day playing impromptu in a studio in Tel Aviv. The resulting recording - acoustic, spontaneous, entirely improvised, and beautifully done - is the foundation of this first album The Tel-Aviv session. The music of this album, played by IDAN, VIEUX, YOSSI, and SOULEYMANE, showcases great creativity and a rich synergy among the musicians. Thanks to the additional contribution of a few guests, the album achieves a perfect balance between various influences that, in spirit, connects to classics such as Talking Timbuktu by ALI FARKA TOURE with RY COODER, The Köln Concert by KEITH JARRETT, or Chamber Music by VINCENT SEGAL and BALLAKE SISSOKO.
