The Ting Tings' debut album, released in May 2008, charted worldwide from Ireland to New Zealand and reached number one in the UK, where it was certified double platinum in 2014.   No fewer than seven singles were taken from it, including the sensational disco track "Shut Up and Let Me Go", which reached number six in the UK, and the hit "That's Not My Name", which also reached number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 and had the distinction of being described as "electro Krautrock" by MOJO magazine, while being one of the catchiest pop tunes of the decade.   Katie White and Jules De Martino both cut their teeth in teenage pop bands, before their adult musical careers were marked by false starts. These experiences clearly left them with a sense of bitterness towards the music industry, which they express clearly in this album.   But these formative years also gave them an instinct for irresistible pop choruses, which fully justifies comparisons with the work of Blondie, Toni Basil, Gwen Stefani, Kylie Minogue and even New Order.
