Formed in Leeds by guitarist Gary Marx and vocalist Andrew Eldritch in 1980, The Sisters Of Mercy released their debut album First And Last And Always in March 1985. Their debut album reached number fourteen on the UK album charts. The band at the time featured Wayne Hussey on guitar and Craig Adams on bass, both of whom would go on to form The Mission.
