The Pains of Being Pure At Heart exploded onto the Brooklyn indie scene in the late 2000s with a bright and distinctive sound that paid homage to everything from C86 to the early days of Slumberland, Sarah, and Creation label pop, but with a distinct American flavor drawn from bands like Smashing Pumpkins and The Exploding Hearts. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2009, is rightly considered a classic, and with Perfect Right Now, we are excited to complete the story of The Pains' early years. The ten tracks here compile the much-loved (and LONG OUT OF PRINT!) B-sides from the 7-inch records that accompanied this debut album, the subsequent EP Higher Than The Stars, a few rare tracks from separate singles, and finally "Say No To Love," a spectacular track that points the way forward for the band's next chapter. There are real lost classics here, songs like "Kurt Cobain's Cardigan" and "The Pains of Being Pure at Heart" that still fill the dance floors of indie clubs from Gothenburg to Glasgow, and we couldn't be more excited to make them available again.
