"News from Planet Zombie" marks the notable return of The Notwist, who reconnect with a collective recording process in their Munich stronghold for the first time since 1995. The album blends melancholy with flashes of optimism, unfolding in an intense pop that reflects a chaotic world while offering warmth and generosity. Conceived in a collaborative spirit, it results from live sessions where the tracks were arranged and recorded with the band's expanded lineup. This method gives the record a raw energy and a particular breathing space, nourished by the unexpected and by the atmosphere of the Import Export community space, where it was completed in one week. The collective dimension also extends to collaborations, with the participation of local and international musicians who enrich the sonic palette: vocals, clarinet, trombone, taishogoto, or harmonium. Two covers — "Red Sun" by Neil Young and "How the Story Ends" by the band Lovers — naturally integrate into the musical narrative, revealing The Notwist as sensitive and generous interpreters.
