THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS BRILL BRUISERS Carl Newman and his bandmates in The New Pornographers are back with a new album on Matador, entitled "Brill Bruisers." The band returns after a four-year hiatus since the release of *Together*. A.C. Newman explains that after going through a difficult period, he wanted to record a festive album. Produced by their bassist, John Collins, *Brill Bruisers* features twelve tracks recorded between Austin, Brooklyn, and Vermont. Since the beginning of their career in 2000, The New Pornographers have released five studio albums, including the excellent *Together*, which was lauded by the press. With this album, the cheerful Canadian troupe attempts to bring smiles back through their euphoric power-pop songs, which often take the form of enchanting mini-anthems.
